Unforgiveness and Resentment

Carry Fisher once said, "Resentment is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die." Carrying grudges and unforgiveness will give root and grow yet another hurt. After a while, these hurts accumulate, making them an ever-increasing heavy emotional burden for you to manage.

Carry Fisher once said, "Resentment is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die." Carrying grudges and unforgiveness will give root and grow yet another hurt. After a while, these hurts accumulate, making them an ever-increasing heavy emotional burden for you to manage.

Forgiving someone can be challenging because it means letting go of past hurts. We often hold onto grievances, revisiting them to justify our disdain for those who wronged us. This tendency to relive the past builds our case against them. If we could have fixed the issue, we likely would have by now. Grudges often stem from our inability to change the situation.

Being a Christian allows us to release life's problems and hurts to God, fully letting God deal with the situation. The ability to forgive someone is powerful and will enable us to let go of grudges, pain, and negative feelings that can weigh us down. It is incredibly freeing to forgive and move on.

God's forgiveness is incredibly freeing. When we experience forgiveness from God, we can let go of the heavy burden of guilt and shame that often comes from our mistakes and sins. It allows us to move forward without being weighed down by our past.

Being forgiven by God paves the way for healing and restoration in our relationships. It allows us to mend bonds that may have been strained or broken due to actions or misunderstandings. Experiencing God's forgiveness empowers us to forgive others. Forgiveness can be incredibly liberating, as it frees us from holding onto anger, resentment, or grudges that can be emotionally damaging.

The Bible teaches that Christian believers can experience a more abundant life, which means living to the fullest and avoiding the negative consequences of sin. A life rich in abundance is one where you can enjoy peace with God, your family, and those around you, as well as a sense of inner tranquility. When you live without the burdens of hurt and regret, life becomes sweeter and more fulfilling. In essence, a more abundant life allows you to coexist in harmony with God, yourself and others.

Forgiveness opens the door to healing, both emotionally and spiritually. It provides hope that we can overcome our struggles and lead fulfilling lives, even after making terrible mistakes. In essence, God's forgiveness liberates us from the shackles of our past, allowing us to embrace a brighter future filled with hope, peace, and the opportunity for growth.

The assurance of God's forgiveness brings us peace.
